# Do a practice run

> Practice is the real thing, stopped early: the tool writes nothing until you confirm.

The migration tool writes nothing until its final confirm. That makes practice free: walk the entire path today, against your real subscribers, and change nothing.

1. Export your subscriptions from the old app. The upload screen shows exactly where for Skio, Stay AI, Recharge, and Loop, plus template files for any other provider.
2. In the OpenSubs admin, open **Settings > Migration** and upload the file.
3. Click **Preview migration**, then **Run connected checks**. Stop there.

That's every screen and every count tile you'll meet on migration day, run against your real subscribers, with zero writes. Rather not touch real data at all? Download the empty template files from the upload screen (one placeholder row each): same screens, none of your data.
